Additional Information:

Guidebook

The full-color guidebook for the trip will be given to participants at the introductory talk on the evening of day 0 of the seminar.

Hotels and Meals

Each participant will be responsible for his/her hotel bill including phone, meals (breakfast and dinner), drinks, laundry etc.  Lunch on Day 1 will be provided (at restaurant).

Safety

Most of the outcrops are "off road". We will have hard hats for any close-up work on vertical outcrop faces. The group will be carrying a mobile phone during the day which can be used for emergencies only. Please let the course coordinator (Steve Cossey) know about any medication or potential allergic reaction that might play a role in the field or in an emergency situation.

Transportation

We use 4-wheel drive vehicles or mini-vans for larger groups.  Please remember to bring your drivers license on the trip, as some of the students may be designated drivers.

Weather

Please check recent weather for Almeria, Spain at www.weather.com

Packing hints

Please pack light.  Luggage space will be at a premium.  Temperatures and rainfall can be variable. Shorts and T shirts or long, lightweight pants are usually appropriate.  Evenings can be cool. The entire seminar is casual dress. Walking or hiking boots are essential. It is also recommended that each participant bring lightweight rain gear for the times when we are on walks away from the vans.  Bring plenty of film and digital cards - the outcrops are very spectacular!
